Legislators Trying to Pass Cell Phone Ban

Lawmakers are trying their best to pass a bill that would ban cell phone use while driving. Numerous research has concluded that a drivers response time decreases when they are using their cell phone while driving, many times leading them to get into a car accident.

The debate at hand now is whether to make texting a primary offence for an officer to cite you on, without any other offense being committed. Any hand held device can lead to a distraction which in turn can cause an accident. Whether texting will be deemed as a primary or secondary offense, it still leads to distracted driving.

Delegates are split on this issue. Some think all factors of distracted driving need to be banned. Putting on makeup while driving or eating while driving, can lead to distracted driving. These factors also need to be discussed not just the use of a phone while driving.

As a car accident attorney El Segundo, I know firsthand the dangers of someone using their phone while driving. I nearly got into a car accident when the driver of the other vehicle was text messaging. I urge all drivers to pay attention to the road and not use their phones while driving.
